A Survey on the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Consultation Service in Korea

Abstract

|
The therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is essential in order to provide effective and safe therapy to the patient who is administered drugs which have a narrow therapeutic index, wide intrapatient and interpatient variabilities in pharmacokinetics and its blood concentration correlates well with risks of therapeutic failure. We designed the survey on TDM in order to find out the guideline information that can be used for providing better qualified TDM to the patients. This survey showed that the TDM is not generalized yet though it provides to improve the quality and ensure the continuity of patient care. We should develop the TDM throughout the nation in order to provide the patient-oriented pharmaceutical service and improve the quality of life of the patients.
